Frequently Asked Questions
What is CBD?
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound from the cannabis plant. It’s a naturally occurring substance that can be extracted from hemp and used in many different products.
What is Raw CBD?
Raw CBD is the natural form of CBD found in the hemp plant. Raw CBD includes CBDa, the acidic form of CBD, and any naturally occurring CBD included in the plant. Raw CBD has not been subjected to any chemical processing or manipulation.
What is the difference between cannabis, hemp and marijuana?
Hemp and marijuana are both Cannabis. Cannabis Sativa L is simply the botanical name for the plant, of which hemp and marijuana are two different types.
Hemp has little to no THC (legally THC levels must be below .3% to be considered hemp) and also has a variety of additional applications, such as textiles, biofuels, food, rope, clothing, cosmetics, paper, plastics and building materials.
What is the difference between CBD Oil and Hemp Oil?
Hemp Oil or Hempseed oil, is primarily composed of dietary fats, but does not contain the other components of the plant. This is because hemp seed oil is produced by cold pressing the seeds. Our hemp extract (CBD oil) and Raw CBD is derived from the plant, not the seed, and contains many phytocannabinoids not inherent in the seeds. The phytocannabinoids, also include terpenes and flavonoids, and allow our product to provide the full benefits from the hemp plant.
What are cannabinoids?
The term cannabinoid describes any chemical that acts on cannabinoid receptors in the brain and body (endocannabinoid system). There are several different types of cannabinoids, such as endocannabinoids, phytocannabinoids, and synthetic cannabinoids.
Endocannabinoids are cannabinoids that are naturally synthesized in the human body.
Phytocannabinoids are cannabinoids that are found in plants, such as THC, CBD and CBG.
Synthetic cannabinoids are man-made chemicals that mimic natural cannabinoids, and are sometimes best avoided for their adverse health effects.
What does full spectrum and broad spectrum mean?
Full spectrum CBD products contain an array of beneficial cannabinoids (CBD, CBC, CBG, CBN and more) and also include THC. Broad spectrum CBD products contain the same array of beneficial cannabinoids (CBD, CBC, CBG, CBN and more) but without the THC.
Will CBD Show Up On A Drug Test?
As a provider of full-spectrum cannabinoid products, in addition to cannabidiols (CBD), our products may contain a trace amount of the cannabinoid THC, less than .3%. However, much like the consumption of poppy seeds may lead to a positive drug test for opioids, the consumption of certain hemp products may lead to a positive drug test for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is inherently present in trace amounts in hemp plants. It’s important to understand that the underlying science behind the conversion of certain cannabinoids to other related cannabinoids when consumed is not yet fully understood. If you are subject to drug testing we strongly suggest consulting your health care provider before consuming any hemp products because individual biochemistry, the potential for the conversion of cannabinoids, and the possibility of trace, but legal, amounts of THC inherent in hemp products are all factors to consider.
If you are using our products on any show animals, you should be aware not all associations permit the use of CBD in horses for show. Please consult your individual association before using this product.
How will I feel when I take CBD?
As it is with many supplements, it depends. Meaning, it depends on your body’s chemistry. Each body is different, so there can be a range of potential responses. Since hemp extract with cannabinoids works with the body’s internal endocannabinoid system to maintain good health, the effect is personalized to you. That being said, quite a few people mention a feeling of relaxation, while others note that hemp extract helps them feel focused.* The best way to find out how CBD will work for you, is to try it for yourself!
Are There Side Effects?
CBD products are generally well tolerated in people and animals and considered safe. As with any other product your ingest or apply topically, there is a chance that it could cause adverse reactions for some people, and/ or could interact with certain medications. As with any supplement, consult your physician before use.
Who Can Take CBD?
Studies show that hemp extract with CBD can be well-tolerated by people and some animals. Since the most common results of taking it are feelings of calm, focus, relief from exercise-induced inflammation, and support for healthy sleep cycles, anyone looking for balance in these areas might benefit from a cannabinoid extract with CBD and additional plant compounds.*
